Good to relax in the garden, in the sun, listening to Fortress Radio using my air pod headphone given to me by Mrs D for my 70th. At least I’m not annoying the neighbours! I could always sing along though. Great station.

Michael & Gwen Fagence

We tune in to your Podcasts each morning Australia time. Monday is Knee Drill, Tuesday is Breakfast Hour, Wednesday is Holiness Meeting, Thursday is Salvation Meeting and the other days are any of the other posts. We really value the meetings prepared and consider this to be “our Army” and recommend it to all our friends. Keep up the good work in His name.

Robert & Jackie Bowman

Fortress Radio has truly been a blessing through out this very difficult time we are all going through. Bless you for all who have made this possible. We are soldiers of the Winton Corps in Bournemouth. Thank you

Jim & Margaret Kelly

My wife and I would like to say THANK YOU to Mark Harry for his uplifting Sunday evening meetings over the last few months.  They are so reminiscent of Salvation meetings that we used to love so well. The traditional army songs and tunes are so welcome.  Your sermons which are straightforward, challenging and which do not "beat about the bush" are in such a contrast to the often insipid sermons of today which seem to be designed not to upset rather than to challenge any of the congregation.

In our local corps there are no longer any band, songsters or Y.P. sections. Over the past few years traditional Army songs seem to have been largely replaced by what are often termed "worship songs" which we do not like or enjoy. The meetings could be replicated in so many churches or mission halls and in our opinion the corps no longer has that unique Army identity.

We were fully involved in both band and songsters for over 50 years but unfortunately no longer attend and consequently have no right to criticise the direction or style of meetings. We recognise that the Army has to evolve to meet the needs of modern society, however as we have heard from so many former Salvationists we feel that we have not left the Army but rather the army has left us.

We do however really enjoy listening to Fortress Radio and especially the Salvation meetings so a big "thank you" for reminding us of the Army as we used to know it.

I thought I should let you know how much Doreen and I enjoyed Saturday evening's  'Virtual' Festival on Fortress Radio. During these long weeks of 'lockdown', we have found the eclectic mix of SA music broadcast 24 hours a day to be a real blessing.  Whenever we need our spirits lifted, there is always an appropriate song or favourite band piece on air. Likewise, the Sunday meetings have enabled us to participate in meaningful worship while being deprived from attending our Corps. You must have been divinely inspired to have launched Fortress Radio just when it is needed most.

As regular attenders at Gospel Arts and Symphony Sound concerts, we were eagerly anticipating the publicised 'Virtual' Concert and we were not disappointed! If anything, your combination of Band and Vocal items interspersed with the interviews with Steve, Dorothy, Derek and Richard  provided a programme that offered even greater variety than some 'live' evenings we have enjoyed.

Being able to bring back classic performances from the '60's and '70's and memories from ISB 120 just added spice to the menu. It was an unforgettable evening - thank you! Long live Fortress Radio!

Really enjoyed the festival concert on Saturday. It brought back many memories of the Royal Albert Hall. I used to run the SP&S stalls in the foyer but during the programme was able to enjoy the top feast of music. One band and festival choir piece that I will never forget was 'Not Unto us Oh Lord' composed and conducted by Lt Col Charles Skinner, I would love to hear that again sometime, I think it was the Centenary festival of song 1965. I was fortunate to attend many activities including the special day at Crystal Palace as well.

Please keep up the great work that you are doing and thank you for all your hard work.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the choice of music today as not only am I an NHS worker but I heard this morning that young lady in her 30s whom I have known since she was a little girl has died. Your choice of music on the radio this morning brought me so much blessing especially 'Give Him All The Pieces' by Celebr8, during which time I spent in prayer for my friend and her family.

Thank you also for an excellent weekend of music. Since moving to Cornwall we miss those ‘big’ and even smaller army events. My home Corps is Staple Hill but was at Easton for a few years and my partner is from Cardiff so now with very small or even no bands we really do miss ‘Army’ so thank you for this ministry for us up be able to enjoy and be blessed in so many ways.

I continue to be a good ambassador for Fortress Radio, I ask everyone who contacts me: “Are you listening to Fortress Radio?” If not, I then tell them about it, especially the three ‘meetings’ on a Sunday.

My reason for contacting you today is to say how blessed I was by Major White’s knee drill last Sunday. So much so, that I changed a meeting I had on Tuesday to later in the morning so that I could listen to it again; a double blessing! Keep up the good work!

Richard Jacob

God bless you. This radio channel is a lifeline for Salvationists self isolating. Thank you. I believe what you are doing is God's work. Reaching out to those at homes with prayer & music. Your radio channel is needed at this time. May God richly bless you and your family.

Paul Robinson

For such a time as this. Be inspired. Be encouraged.

Incredible range of Army and other 'wholesome' music from endless variety of talented individuals and groups which stirs memories and cheers up and inspires for the present.

A means of encouragement to folks like myself shut ins...

Jim Kelly

Thank you Fortress radio for your programme. During this time of isolation it is particularly appreciated. It is especially enjoyable to listen to the older band pieces that I conducted as corps bandmaster at Perth from 1966 - 1981 and then played and occasionally conducted during my 10 years as deputy bandmaster and principal trombone following my transfer to Parkhead corps in Glasgow. Last weekend brought back so many happy memories of Easter weekends "specialing" at corps throughout the UK. Thank you.

Majors Ian and Susan Woodgate

Just a thank you for the ministry you share throughFortress Radio. We’ve been pleased to share this with many people. This includes a number of retired officers in south London who are not able to currently attend their place of worship. You are in the right place at the right time. We thank God for you and pray for this ministry.

We just want to say how much we are enjoying this new venture, especially the Sunday meetings. It is a refreshing change to listen to what we (& others we know) call "Proper" Army meetings. This was especially so for last nights Salvation meeting with yourself & Keith Banks. We both soldier at Stowmarket & believe you were not far away at some time in Felixstowe? However, in common with a number of Corps we know, the meetings have gone far away from what we grew up with & still feel we need for our own spiritual progress. It has also meant I have been able to remake contact with Keith White, who I grew up with at Harlesden & we sat together in both the YP & Senior bands. We both remember playing Captain & Lieutenant cornet duet as a couple of 14 year olds, although he had both ranks while I remained soldier!!  Please keep up the good work & am sure you will be getting many similar thank you messages. Regards

Reverend Barbara Steadman-Allen

Absolutely loving this radio choice and presentation. THANK YOU and Happy Easter!

Lynn

Hi, thank you for playing Salvation Army music it is lovely when we cannot go to church. God bless you.

Cheryl Davies

Very blessed by last night's Salvation meeting - thank you. May I request you consider playing the dedication song of the Messengers of Peace session 1985-1987 next week? The words of the chorus are particularly relevant in these days. The title is "Peace to the World" and has been recorded by ISS although I do not know which CD.  The chorus words are:

What can I do or say? I can only pray.
Lord Jesus, fill my life with your peace,
My knowledge of Yourself increase,
Then I will be equal to the work you have assigned,
And I will be ready for the task you have designed.
Only as Your peace fills my heart
Can I hope Your peace to impart,
So Jesus take me, Lord Jesus make me
A messenger, a messenger of Peace to the world.

Many thanks.

Graham Wharton

Please be encouraged in that you do. So helpful to spend time with you within this Service. I pray the Lord will continue to rest upon you all.
God Bless.

Gill Carter

Listening for the first time this morning, it was just like being back in the SA Church on a Sunday. Thank you so much for the message today, very apt and thought provoking.

Gillian Crowe

Thank you for your ministry.

David Paget

Thank you so very much for a wonderful service this morning, I felt that I was really receiving the message the same as any meeting. I assume you will do this again. God bless you.

Rainer Nadler

Happy that a friend from the Blue Shield Fellowship (SA Police officer fellowship) send me the link. Love good Army Bands and Songsters.
God bless you all.

Richard Carroll

WELL! WELL! WELL! Is this a first? had decided that the band would play something bright this morning but listening to Fortress Radio via "Alexa" while getting ready a melody struck a chord and so we played a hymn tune, sort of requested by Fortress Radio via Alexa. Is this a first?

Bernard Ashfold

I am aware that the TV programme, Songs of Praise" recently ran a poll to select the nations Favourite hymns. It occurred to me that it could make excellent ministry if people were invited to nominate their favourite hymn and explain why.  I congratulate you for taking the brave step of starting this station.
Sincerely
